History: Like most varietals of Helichrysum, Helichrysum gymnocephalum possesses a unique chemical profile and differs significantly in therapeutic properties from other species of Helichrysum and specifically from the more popular H.italicum. Helichrysum gymnocephalum, typically grown in Madagascar on wild shrubs with aromatic small yellow flowers, has a fresh, camphoraceous, eucalyptus-like aroma. The branches are covered by white, fine hairs that are harvested for this oil.

Therapeutic Properties: Therapeutically speaking, Helichrysum Gymnocephalum is a powerful anti-inflammatory and has the highest content of cineole. Additional properties of Helichrysum Gymnocephalum are analgesic, antibacterial, anti-infectious, antimalarial, antiseptic, antiviral, decongestant, expectorant, immunostimulant, mucolytic, and tonic for the nervous system.

Suggested Uses:
•
Aromatherapy
• Massage/bath oil
• Perfumery
• Skin preparations (lotions, creams, soaps, etc.)

Helichrysum Gymnocephalum significantly reduces pain and upper respiratory infections. Due to it’s unique composition, this oil is widely used for headaches, migraines, muscular aches and pains, tendonitis, sciatica, lumbago, rheumatism, menstrual cramping, Herpes outbreaks, hematoma, gout, bronchitis and goiter. Among its uses are aphrodisiac, stimulating and antiseptic. It is also used for respiratory complaints such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, whooping cough, sinus infections. Given its unique chemistry, it’s used more for congestion, as an analgesic, for infections and headaches, and less for wound healing.
